Enter a length in centimetres. The calculator multiplies that number by 10 and shows the result in millimetres, always to two decimal places. Millimetres = centimetres × 10.
Both units come from the metre. A centimetre is one hundredth of a metre, and a millimetre is one thousandth. Ten millimetres make one centimetre, so the factor is exactly 10. Multiplying by 10 moves the decimal point one place to the right. The multiplier card shows that factor as 10.
Worked example: 15 cm is the sample value in the field. 15 × 10 = 150, which the page prints as 150.00 mm. A smaller length such as 2.54 cm, one inch, becomes 25.40 mm. Because 2.54 is under 10, that result is labelled Small even though it is more than 25 millimetres.
Zero is a valid length and returns 0.00 mm. A negative value is rejected. The circle fills as the input approaches 200 cm and stays full above that, while the millimetre figure keeps growing. The length band reads the centimetres only: under 10 cm is Small, 10 cm up to just under 50 cm is Medium, and 50 cm or more is Large. So 30.48 cm, one foot, is 304.80 mm and Medium, while 100 cm is 1000.00 mm and Large.
Each millimetre value is the centimetre length multiplied by 10, shown to two decimal places with the same length band as the calculator.
| Centimetres | Millimetres | Band | What it marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.1 | 1.00 | Small | 1 millimetre |
| 1 | 10.00 | Small | 1 centimetre |
| 2.54 | 25.40 | Small | 1 inch |
| 10 | 100.00 | Medium | 10 centimetres |
| 15 | 150.00 | Medium | Sample input |
| 30.48 | 304.80 | Medium | 1 foot |
| 50 | 500.00 | Large | Half a metre |
| 100 | 1000.00 | Large | 1 metre |
1 cm is exactly 10 millimetres, because 1 × 10 = 10.00.
2.54 cm is printed as 25.40 mm, and 15 cm is printed as 150.00 mm.
Small is under 10 cm, Medium is 10 cm to just under 50 cm, and Large is 50 cm or more.
The ring is full at 200 cm. 100 cm still converts to 1000.00 mm.
Multiply the length in centimetres by 10. Millimetres = centimetres × 10. The page shows that result to two decimal places. 15 cm is 15 × 10 = 150.00 mm.
One centimetre is exactly 10 millimetres. A centimetre is one hundredth of a metre and a millimetre is one thousandth, so each centimetre contains ten millimetres. Entering 1 returns 10.00 mm.
Multiplying by 10 shifts the decimal one place to the right. 2.54 cm becomes 25.40 mm, and 0.1 cm becomes 1.00 mm. The calculator always keeps two digits after the decimal.
One inch is 2.54 cm. 2.54 × 10 = 25.4, shown as 25.40 mm. That input is still in the Small band because 2.54 cm is under 10 cm.
The band reads the centimetre input only. Under 10 cm is Small, from 10 cm up to just under 50 cm is Medium, and 50 cm or more is Large. 15 cm is 150.00 mm and Medium. 50 cm is 500.00 mm and Large.
The millimetre figure is fixed at two digits after the decimal. 1 cm appears as 10.00 mm, 10 cm appears as 100.00 mm, and 100 cm appears as 1000.00 mm.
Zero is allowed and returns 0.00 mm, labelled Small. A negative number is rejected. The field must be 0 or greater.
The ring is a visual scale that is full when the input reaches 200 cm. Lengths above 200 cm still convert. 200 cm is 2000.00 mm and is labelled Large.
Divide the millimetres by 10. Centimetres = millimetres ÷ 10. A result of 150.00 mm is 15 cm. The multiplier card shows the forward factor as 10.
100 cm is 1 metre, and 1 metre is 1,000 mm. This page reaches that point when you enter 100: 100 × 10 = 1000.00 mm, labelled Large.
