Pick two dates. The calculator counts the midnights between them. By default the end date is not included, which is the usual way to say how many days are left until a date.
Turn on Include end date when both the first and last day should count, such as a trip that starts on Monday and ends on Friday. Swapping the two fields does not change the number of days.
The same pairs with the end date left out, and with it included.
| From | To | Days | Including end |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Jan | 10 Jan | 9 | 10 |
| 1 Jan 2024 | 1 Feb 2024 | 31 | 32 |
| 1 Jan 2024 | 1 Jan 2025 | 366 | 367 |
| Same day | Same day | 0 | 1 |
The number in the circle is the day count. It is not split into years and months.
These always show the earlier date first, even if you typed the later date in the start field.
Forward means the end date is on or after the start date. Reverse means you entered the later date first.
Adds one day so the last date is part of the count. Leave it off for days remaining until a deadline.
Enter a start date and an end date. The tool counts the calendar days from the earlier date up to, but not including, the later date. Turn on Include end date if you also want the last day counted.
Without it, 1 January to 10 January is 9 days. With it on, the same dates are 10 days, because 10 January is counted too. Same-day dates are 0 unless you include the end date, in which case the result is 1.
The day count does not change if you swap the dates. The From and To cards always show the earlier date first. Input order is marked forward when the end date is on or after the start date, and reverse when it is before.
Yes. The count uses real calendar dates. The span from 1 January 2024 to 1 January 2025 is 366 days, because 2024 includes 29 February.
No. This page returns a single day count. The age difference calculator breaks the same kind of gap into years, months, and days.
Yes, as a calendar check. A 30-day notice from 1 March, not counting 1 March itself, ends on 31 March. If your letter says both dates are included, turn on Include end date and confirm the wording in the document.
This is a calendar day count. If a notice, exam form, or contract defines its own start and end rules, follow that wording.
