How this day of the week calculator works
Choose a date. The page reads the year, month, and day and finds which weekday that calendar date falls on. 7 October 2026 is a Wednesday. 1 January 2000 is a Saturday.
The date is built in your local timezone, on the Gregorian calendar. It is not shifted to UTC, so the weekday is the weekday of that local calendar day. The name in the circle is the long weekday in your browser’s language. The examples below use the English names.
A date is kept only when the year, month, and day still match after it is built. That rejects days the month does not have. 31 April is rejected, because April has 30 days, and the date is not rolled forward into May. 29 February is kept in a leap year and rejected otherwise. 29 February 2024 is a Thursday. 29 February 2023 is not a real date.
Leap years follow the Gregorian rule. A year divisible by 4 is a leap year, except a century year, which must also be divisible by 400. 2000 is a leap year, so 29 February 2000 is a Tuesday. 1900 is not a leap year, and 1 January 1900 is a Monday. An empty field shows --. This page names the weekday of the date you pick. It does not add days, subtract days, or count the gap between two dates.
