How this metre to feet calculator works
Enter a length in metres. The calculator multiplies it by 3.28084 and shows the result in feet, always to four decimal places. Feet = metres × 3.28084.
The international foot is exactly 0.3048 metres. One metre is 1 ÷ 0.3048 = 3.280839895… feet. This page uses 3.28084, that value rounded to five decimal places. It is not the older US survey foot.
Worked example: 1 × 3.28084 = 3.28084, and four decimal places round that to 3.2808 ft. Five metres is 16.4042 ft. Ten metres is 32.8084 ft. Typing the length of one foot, 0.3048 metres, returns 1.0000 ft. Typing 1.8288 metres, which is six feet, returns 6.0000 ft.
Any finite number is accepted, including 0 and negatives. 0 metres is 0.0000 ft, and −1 metre is −3.2808 ft. An empty box shows --. To go back, divide the feet by 3.28084, or multiply by 0.3048.
