Salary Predictor Calculator

How this salary predictor works

Enter a base salary, years of experience, and a skill score from 0 to 10. The calculator estimates Predicted = Base × (1 + Experience × 0.08 + Skill score × 0.03). A base of 5,00,000 with 2 years and skill 5 becomes 5,00,000 × 1.31 = 6,55,000. The result is shown as a whole number.

Experience adds 8% of base per year inside the multiplier. Skill adds 3% of base per point. Those percentages add together, then scale the base. With 0 years and skill 0, the multiplier is 1 and the prediction equals the base. Base 6,00,000 with 5 years and skill 8 uses 1.64 and returns 9,84,000.

All three values must be finite numbers. Non-finite input leaves “--.” Empty number fields parse as 0, so a blank form can show 0 until you enter a base. This is a simple linear illustration—not a market offer, CTC breakdown, or placement guarantee.

Check by hand: compute 1 + (years × 0.08) + (skill × 0.03), then multiply by base. For 8,00,000 with 4 years and skill 6: 1 + 0.32 + 0.18 = 1.50, and 8,00,000 × 1.50 = 12,00,000.

How to read the result

  • Base × multiplier

    Multiplier = 1 + years×0.08 + skill×0.03.

  • 8% per year

Experience adds 0.08 per year of base.

  • 3% per skill point

Skill 0–10 adds 0.03 per point of base.

  • Whole number

    Display rounds with toFixed(0).

Frequently asked questions

  • What does this salary predictor estimate?

An adjusted salary from a base amount, years of experience, and a skill score. The formula is Predicted = Base × (1 + Experience × 0.08 + Skill score × 0.03). A base of 5,00,000 with 2 years and skill 5 gives 6,55,000. The result is rounded to a whole number.

  • What does the 0.08 factor mean?

Each year of experience adds 8% of the base before the final multiply. Two years contribute 2 × 0.08 = 0.16, or 16% of base, inside the parentheses.

  • What does the skill score do?

Skill score is a 0–10 style rating. Each point adds 3% of the base inside the formula. Skill 5 contributes 5 × 0.03 = 0.15. Skill 10 contributes 0.30.

  • How do experience and skill combine?

    They add inside the parentheses, then multiply the base. Base 4,00,000 with 3 years and skill 7: 1 + 0.24 + 0.21 = 1.45, and 4,00,000 × 1.45 = 5,80,000.

  • What if experience and skill are zero?

Predicted salary equals the base. 3,00,000 with 0 years and skill 0 stays 3,00,000, because the multiplier is 1.

  • Is this a real market salary offer?

No. It is a simple linear model for illustration. Actual pay depends on role, city, company, industry, and negotiation. Treat the number as a rough uplift on your base, not an offer letter.

  • What inputs are accepted?

Base salary, experience in years, and skill score must all be finite numbers. Non-finite values leave the result as “--.” Empty fields parse as 0 in the number inputs, which can show a predicted value of 0 until you enter a positive base.

  • What is base 6,00,000 with 5 years and skill 8?

    1 + 5 × 0.08 + 8 × 0.03 = 1 + 0.40 + 0.24 = 1.64. 6,00,000 × 1.64 = 9,84,000.

  • How precise is the answer?

The display uses toFixed(0), so the result is a whole number with no decimal places. 2,50,000 × (1 + 0.08 + 0.12) = 3,00,000 exactly in that example.

  • Does a higher skill score always raise pay more than experience?

Per unit, experience adds 8% of base per year and skill adds 3% per point. One extra year outweighs one skill point, but ten skill points (0.30) outweigh three years (0.24).
